Description

Biochem/physiol ActionsEconazole is an azole-based antifungal similar to ketoconazole. Its mechanism of action may involve inhibition of membrane enzymes, including cytochrome P450,1 and lipid biosynthesis.2 The bactericidal and inhibitory effects of several azole antifungal compounds, including econazole, against Mycobacterium smegmatis has been investigated.3
